Pomegranate and Gold - Plique-a-Jour enamel earrings
The pomegranate symbolized fertility in Ancient Greece and Rome. It had a strong association to Aphrodite, the Greek goddess of love, as well as Hera, the Greek goddess of marriage and childbirth. This symbolism was inspiration for creation of this unique earrings.
Earrings are made in Plique-a-Jour enameling technique, sterling silver and 24K gold foils fused to the enamel. Plique-a-Jour is a less well-known enameling technique but the most difficult and beautiful at the same time. This technique often called stain glass enameling technique as it is does remind stain glass windows, especially in old churches.

Plique-à-jour from French meant to “letting in the daylight” and defines a type of transparent enamel that has no backing.
